Masonry Magazine May 1974 Page. 9
Brick enhances Berkley School's interior. Brick arches and columns add warmth to the library and distract the attention of students from kindergarten through the 5th grade.
Berkley is one of many schools designed by O'Donnell Wicklund & Pigozzi of Evanston, Ill., a versatile firm that has also designed many other types of architecture. Inland Architect best describes the firm's design for Berkley as "strikingly effective." The magazine continued by stating: "On the exterior, Berkley's angular projections and unexpected protrusions contrast sharply with the banality of surrounding developments. Yet its warm red brick, stone trim and small scale give it a residential character of its own.
