Peter S. Hass, Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Kaiser Cement & Gypsum Corp., has been elected Chairman of the Board of the Portland Cement Association.

The Illinois State Capital Development Board has retained Ezra D. Ehrenkrantz & Associates to prepare the building program statement for the center.

Michael F. McCarthy has been named plant manager, Independence Plant for Universal Atlas Cement Division of the United States Steel.

The new Directory & Buyers Guide of the Minnesota Concrete & Masonry Contractors Association has been distributed.

Honor Hugh Perry

Black, President, Perlite of Houston, Inc., was elected President of the Perlite Institute at the organization's 27th Annual Meeting.

Tubesing Milwaukee Man Of The Year

Robert Tubesing was chosen by the Allied Construction Employers Association as the Construction Man of the Year' for the Greater Milwaukee Area. Pictured above at the 11th Annual Hard Hat Dinner held last month are: (left to right) Allan Knuth, MCAA Wisconsin State Chairman; Robert Harrison, MCAA Treasurer, Robert Tubesing and George A. MIH Holds Open House

Over 200 architects, engineers, government officials, contractors and guests attended the Masonry Institute of Hawaii's "Open House" held on August 13th. The MIH Office is located at 905 Umi Street, Suite #206, Honolulu 96819. Chairman of the organization's Board is Robert K. Uetake with Charles A. Miyata, Vice Chairman and Albert C. Kobayashi the Secretary-Treasurer. Managing Director is George S. Ishida with Sheila A. Iseri the Executive Secretary.


12th Design Competition

The Ontario Masons' Relations Council announces its Twelfth Architectural Design Awards competition. This competition is sponsored by the Ontario Region of the Clay Brick Association of Canada; the Ontario Provincial Conference of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen; the Ontario Concrete Block Association, and the Ontario Masonry Contractors Association. Allowing for a break in 1972 for the Design Canada National Unit Masonry Awards, the O.M.R.C. Awards Program has been held every year since 1964.

In 1975 there were 54 buildings submitted by 42 architectural firms; the Award of Excellence was won by the firm of Fairfield & Dubois (now known as Dubois, Strong, Bindhardt) for their design of Otonobee College, Trent University, in Peterborough.

Wednesday, June 30, 1976 has been set for closing date for registrations in the 1976 program.
