# ARA Elects Salzman
Architect Jerome Salzman of A. L. Salzman & Sons, Architects & Engineers, Chicago, Ill., has been elected president of the 600-member Society of American Registered Architects. Salzman and nine other architects were elected to national offices at the society's recent national convention in Atlanta, Ga.
Serving with Salzman are: president-elect, Richard E. Shields, York, Pa.; vice president, G. Robert Johnson, Glenview, III.; directors, W. # CSI to Meet In Denver
The Construction Specifications Institute will hold its 21st annual convention and exhibit in Denver, Colo., June 20-22.
The 1977 meeting will feature a full complement of technical programs designed for specification writers, architects and construction engineers. Each program will provide an opportunity for participants to improve their knowledge in construction methods and technology, product development and utilization, and communications and construction documentation.
# Detroit "Roasts" Snyder
The Detroit Mason Contractors Association, in cooperation with the Masonry Institute of Michigan, "roasted" J. R. "Jim" Snyder in an irreverent tribute during DMCA's Holiday Ball on December 19, 1976 at the Engineering Society of Detroit.
Snyder is a past president of the association and a leading mason contractor in the Detroit area. He recently was the subject of a feature article on the sports pages of the Detroit Free Press. Snyder is one of the nation's foremost proponents of slow-pitch softball, and four years ago founded and is current president of the Major Metro Travel League.
# ANSI Reelects Landis
John W. Landis, senior vice president of Stone & Webster Engineering Corp., has been reelected to a third term as president of the American National Standards Institute, New York, N.Y. Dr. Louis F. Polk, Sr., chairman, Louis Polk, Inc., has been elected vice president for a three-year term.
# Travis Heads MCAU
Bill Travis, president of Travis Masonry, Inc., Ogden, has been elected president of the Mason Contractors Association of Utah for 1977. He had served as vice president of the association's North Area for the past year.

Norton Company, Worcester, Mass., has announced the appointments of Joseph J. Hauser and Thomas B. Pickle as district sales supervisors for its Safety Products Division... Jed L. Greer has been named director of planning & development for the Cement Division of National Gypsum Co., Southfield, Mich. Robert D. # New CMCA President
Carl L. Schiesser, owner of Glenwood Masonry, Inc., Glenwood Springs, on January 1 assumed duties as president of the Colorado Mason Contractors Association for 1977. He previously served as vice president and trustee of the association. Well known in business and civic circles, Schiesser has been a member of the Colorado Masonry Institute Cold Weather Construction Advisory Council and the Colorado Mountain College Advisory Board for Continuing Education. In 1973 he was selected by the Small Business Administration to receive the area Outstanding Small Businessman Award.
# Autonomy for Essick Div.
Arrangements have been completed for a change to autonomous operation of Essick Manufacturing Co. of Los Angeles as a division of A-T-O, Inc. Essick produces a broad line of concrete and mortar mixers, plaster and mortar mixers, material pumps and compaction equipment.
The change in operations includes the promotion of Eugene Ausili from plant manager to vice president and general manager, and the appointment of Bill Allison as general sales manager.
