IS THIS GOLF OR "CHILD'S PLAY"?
Strange things happen to mason contractors. But sometimes it's hard to believe that a series of events is nothing but coincidence. Take MCAA-member Earl Child's recent experience at a golf course in McCall, Idaho. With a 7-iron, Earl sank a hole-in-one on the 7th hole. The ace occurred on the 7th day of July (the 7th month) in '77. The 57-year old golfer's total score for the day was 79. Earl demonstrated his honesty by vigorously resisting suggestions that he shave his score to 77, thereby missing his chance to really go down in the record books.
TOILET SEATS GET "FIXED"
The Justice Department and four toilet seat manufacturers have agreed to an accord that would end a three-year civil antitrust suit. Under the proposed judgment, which must be approved by Detroit Federal District Court, the companies would be barred from fixing toilet seat prices and from exchanging information with one another or with other manufacturers before such information is publicly disclosed. The government had charged in the civil suit and in criminal indictments that the companies fixed prices from 1965 through 1974. The defendants pleaded "no contest" to the criminal charges earlier.
