"Masonry Estimating For a Profit" by Jerry Pope. February 16. Milwaukee, Wis. Jerry Pope is well known to most MCAA members as author of the widely acclaimed Masonry Estimating For a Profit Manual. The Manual has recently been updated and will be used in conjunction with the course in Milwaukee. Pope, who is vice president/manager of special projects for Hensel Phelps Construction Co., Greely, Colo., has been conducting estimating courses for MCAA for a number of years and has been lauded for his informative presentations.

The course will be a full-day event immediately preceding MCAA's 29th International Masonry Conference at the Marriott Hotel. Charles Kothe, a specialist in corporate and administrative law with special emphasis on labor relations, is dean of the School of Law at Oral Roberts University, Tulsa, Okla. George Plumb, of the Chicago law firm of Pedersen & Houpt, is MCAA legal counsel.
"PROOF (Profit Research On Operating Factors") by Irv Chasen. March 30, Milwaukee, Wis. Chasen, who was a lecturer at the MCAA Conference in Las Vegas in 1978, developed the "PROOF" cost management system for service trade businesses. The system deals exclusively with the recognition and recovery of contractors' indirect or overhead costs, cost adjusting, and bidding to varying levels of field employment.

James Promotes Lietz
Fred. S. James Agency, Inc., MCAA's insurance consulting firm, has announced the elevation of Dick Lietz to vice president of the agency. Lietz, in concert with Walter T. Derk, senior vice president of James, have coordinated MCAA's insurance programs for a number of years.
In another development, W. W. Rice Co., which merged with the James organization in October, 1977, has relocated its offices to James' facilities at 230 W. Monroe St. in Chicago.
