Construction Equipment
Makers See Gains in '80
Construction machinery manufacturers expect to end 1979 in the plus column, with total shipments of machines to U.S., Canadian and overseas customers running slightly ahead of 1978 business volume. They also look to 1980 business to show marginal increases over 1979 business.
But the anticipated modest growth of the industry could suddenly change for the worse, say the manufacturers, depending on abrupt changes in the political and economic picture.
These predictions are contained in the "Outlook '80" report, a survey of current and expected industry trends conducted by the Construction Industry Manufacturers Association.
