MCAA CONFERENCE UPDATE continued

Another important segment of the Conference will take place Saturday afternoon with the official opening of the '81 MCAA Educational Trade Show in the MGM Grand/Reno. Following the President's Reception at 2:00 p.m., President Louis J. Helbert, Jr. will cut the ribbon signaling the start of the Show.

Always an extremely popular event, this year's Show again will carry a wide array of educational exhibits. Virtually every aspect of masonry construction will be displayed and the exhibit booths manned by specialists who are prepared to answer questions and provide you with the technical information you need.

SUNDAY, March 1, 1981

The Masonry Industry Showcase-traditionally one of the best attended events of the Conference, by both men and women alike-will kick off at 11:00 a.m. in the protected tour and bus terminal area of the MGM. The new time slot should give everyone attending the Conference an opportunity to see the various types of construction equipment put through their paces and also provide ample time to consult with company representatives on specific points of interest. Immediately following the Showcase, everyone is invited to return to the Exhibit Hall for browsing at the Trade Show until 4:00 p.m.

Note: A special Sunday evening presentation of the sensational musical review, "Hello, Hollywood, Hello," will be staged at 6:30. Reservations must be made with the MCAA Executive Office for tickets.

MONDAY, March 2, 1981

MCAA's 31st International Masonry Conference will shift into high gear at 9:30 Monday morning with the Opening Session. Following the traditional presentation of colors by a U.S. Armed Forces color guard, Louis J. Helbert will present his President's Report to the membership. Giving the keynote address will be Eugene E. Stanaland, a noted economist and former head of the Economics Department at Auburn University. An entertaining and inspiring speaker, Mr. Stanaland is known for his ready wit and ability to inject humor into a subject as prosaic as economics, making it more meaningful to the average person.

Monday afternoon will be open for that last look at the MCAA Trade Show from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. Everyone is urged to visit each and every exhibit, and to thank the various firms represented for contributing to this important MCAA event. This opportunity to meet and personally talk with the exhibitors should provide MCAA members with a good competitive edge for the '81 construction marketplace.

TUESDAY, March 3, 1981

The closing morning of the Conference will feature presentations in three areas with which the mason contractor is vitally concerned progressive collapse, passive solar, and OSHA. The speakers for this season will be comprised of Allan Yorkdale and Kevin Callahan of the National Concrete Masonry Association: Mario Catani, Portland Cement Association, and Steve Cooper, special assistant to the Assistant Secretary of Labor in Washington.

At 1:30 p.m. the MCAA Annual Meeting will be held and Association officers elected for the coming year. That evening, following a cocktail hour, the 31st Annual Banquet and Dance will begin at 7:30 in the Grand Ballroom of the MGM.

The officers and staff of MCAA are confident that this year's program will provide you with a welcome learning experience as well as the chance to socialize with friends and to make new acquaintances. Fill out your Conference Registration Form and Hotel Reservation Card and send them today! You'll be way ahead if you do.
