Award of Merit-Masonry
Masonry was chosen as the predominant material for the Winfield Dunn Dental Clinic Building in order to provide a sense of continuity with existing collegiate gothic buildings on campus. The 8x8 masonry units of rich brown color give scale and warmth to the large expanses of the exterior walls. This standard unit veneers the curved forms of vertical elements with no special expense. The use of masonry contributed substantially toward meeting a restrictive budget, according to the architect, Gassner Nathan & Partners, Architects/Planners, Inc. Norris Contractors, Inc. did the masonry.
