RESTORE Offers Intensive Course On Masonry Building Restoration

RESTORE/Restoration Skills Training Program will present an intensive workshop based on the curriculum of the existing nine-month RESTORE course on masonry maintenance and restoration. The course will be offered November 12-15 at The Urban Center in New York City. The RESTORE program, now in its fourth year and widely acclaimed in the trade and mass news media, is designed to update and upgrade the restoration skills and preservation technology of craftsmen, contractors and other qualified people in the building industry. Virtually all of the major masonry restoration and maintenance contractors in the New York metropolitan area have already sponsored employees to RESTORE.

As in the present 30-week program, the four-day intensive workshop will analyze forces of masonry deterioration, cleaning procedures and techniques for repair of masonry structures. The teaching faculty consists of a team of building conservators, masonry craftsmen, architects, structural engineers, materials consultants and specialists in other areas who are all actively engaged in architectural restoration and maintenance.
