Masonry Institute of Michigan Elects Officers
The recent election of Frank J. Soave (far left) of Cavanaugh & Soave, Inc., Troy, as chairman of the Masonry Institute of Michigan marked his fifth consecutive one-year term as the Institute's chief elected officer. Elected to serve with him in 1982 were (pictured, starting 2nd from left): Howard J. Hicks, Ebeling & Hicks, Inc., Romeo, vice chairman: Roy A. Seelbinder, Roy A. Seelbinder Construction Co., Troy, treasurer: Francis Costella, Monte Costella & Co., Southfield, treasurer, and Gesue (Joe) Forte, G. Forte Co., St. Clair Shores, assistant secretary.
Charles Cummings, Mason Contractor, Dies
Charles C. Cummings, a founder of Cummings Bros., Inc., mason contractors based in Covington, Ky., died December 26, 1981. He was 81.
Mr. Cummings is survived by two sons, Donald and Thomas, who are active in the business; a daughter; 12 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Ontario Masonry Contractors Announce New Slate of Officers
The board of directors of the Ontario Masonry Contractors Association has announced a new slate of officers for 1982 following the sudden death of the newly elected president, Jack Deutsch.
Mr. Deutsch of Windsor United Masonry Ltd., Windsor, Ont., died just two weeks after assuming office in November, 1981.
Named by the board to replace him is William E. Wilson of Bectar Corp., Ottawa. The remaining officers are: G. Kappeler, Kappeler Masonry Ltd., Kitchener, Ont., 1st v.p.; P. L. Martini, Twin Masonry Ltd., Toronto, Ont., 2nd v.p.: J. Riach, Clifford Masonry Ltd., Toronto, 3rd v.p.; T. Mascarin, Deluca & Mascarin Masonry Contractors Ltd., Toronto, secretary-treasurer: past presidents S.Comisso, Oliver Comisso Ltd., Sudbury, and E. George, G & A Masonry Ltd., Kitchener, and executive director W. N. Fraser, Toronto.
National Gypsum to Keep Cement Division
National Gypsum Co., Dallas, Texas, announced it plans to continue the operation of its cement division, despite an earlier intent to sell the business.
Headquartered in Southfield, Mich., the division sells cements under the Huron and Allentown brand names in various market areas from North Dakota to central New York State and along the East Coast from Connecticut to Virginia.
Program Available for Rome Masonry Conference
The full program for the 6th International Brick Masonry Conference to be held in Rome, Italy, May 16-19, has been finalized.

The Portland Cement Association is offering its free 1982 catalog of publications and audiovisual materials, relating to cement and concrete.
