S. Gleeson, former government marketing services manager for PPG Industries, has been appointed president of The Refractories Institute, Pittsburgh. Pa.

Charles Bolek, former mayor and alderman of Des Plaines, III. and a staunch MCAA supporter for many years, has been elected president of the Arlington Heights (III.) Golf Club, where he has been a member since 1958. Bolek, who is with Jones Engineering Co., is active in civic affairs and has held all offices in the Des Plaines Elks Club Design Materials, Denver, Colo., and Maryland Tile Distributors, Baltimore, Md., have been appointed authorized distributors for Metropolitan Ceramics, Inc., Canton, Ohio. Richard O. Haase, president of a Washington, D.C., realty-appraisal firm, has been named commissioner of the GSA's Public Buildings Service.


Herbert Materials Names Nashville Distributor

James A. "Buddy" Skinner Jr. (right). president of Herbert Materials, Inc., Nashville, Tenn., seals the deal with William T. Calton, president of C. W. Kempkau, Inc., following Kempkau's appointment as exclusive distributor of Herbert brick in the Nashville market.

Kempkau has distributed brick, stone, ceramic tile, and masonry related building materials since 1922. Herbert Materials began manufacturing and selling clay brick in Nashville in 1867 and is one of the oldest building supply manufacturers in the South.


SBA Service Helps Small Firms Attract Business

Procurement officials at remote terminals across the nation consult PASS regularly for small firms with capabilities that match their needs.

PASS is a free service offered by the U.S. Small Business Administration, a federal agency. You can join the 55,000 small firms already in PASS by completing a simple, one-page form available from any SBA office, or send a postcard to PASS, % U.S. Small Business Administration.
