New Service Promotes Subcontractor Contacts
The nation's construction subcontractors and material suppliers are receiving a sales boost as the result of a new service introduced by IFC-San Francisco. The sales promotion firm's focus is on increasing sales for subcontractors and suppliers by linking them up directly with general contractors.
"We can place any subcontractor or supplier into direct contact with general contractors within four weeks," promises Josephine Wright, president of IFC-San Francisco. She says that her firm has developed an extensive data network involving more than 1,500 general contractors in the San Francisco Bay area alone.

Gilbertson Joins Oregon Masonry Institute Staff
Larry Gilbertson, previously president of Henson Masonry, Inc., Beaverton, Ore., has joined the Masonry & Ceramic Tile Institute of Oregon as assistant director to Tom Young. Gilbertson has 27 years' industry experience, and is a past president of the Mason Contractors Association of Portland and the Masonry & Ceramic Tile Institute of Oregon.
In his new post, Gilbertson will be responsible for maintaining regular contact with design professionals and working on special projects.
Leading Executives to Advise GSA Officials
The General Services Administration has announced the appointment of 20 high-level private industry executives to an advisory board aimed at improving the agency's efficiency.
GSA administrator Gerald P. Carmen said he expects the advice from leaders of some of America's major corporations to "serve as a major injection of private sector business know-how" for improving the giant federal agency's activities.
Governor Proclaims "Masonry Week In Michigan"
Representatives of Michigan's masonry industry were on hand for the ceremony in Gov. William G. Milliken's office that proclaimed January 10-16, 1982 as "Masonry Week In Michigan." The "Week" was timed to coincide with the Masonry Institute of Michigan's annual Masonry Awards Banquet honoring practicing and student architects for excellence in masonry design. Present at the proclamation signing were (from left): Frank Soave, Masonry Institute chairman; George Spencer, special deputy of the International Bricklayers Union: Thomas Ebeling, chairman, Michigan Mason Contractors Association: John A. Heslip, president, Masonry Institute; Jerry Pienkowski, secretary-treasurer, Michigan State Conference of Bricklayers, and Ron Hurta, industry coordinator, Masonry Institute.
