Hendrick & Mock Designs Club at Camp Pendleton

Hendrick & Mock Architects, San Diego, Calif., has been selected by the Naval Facilities Engineering Command to develop plans and interior design for a club facility for enlisted personnel at the Camp Pendleton Marine Base.

The one-story building will include a food service facility, disco, game room, lounge and party room. The exterior will feature split-face concrete block construction with a copper-covered metal roof and fascia.

People & The Masonry Institute of St. Louis, Bill Pautler, executive director, came up with a unique way of sending their greetings this past Christmas. Their "card" was a standard, red, matt-textured brick with the individual's name carved in the bed. In this way, Pautler was able to do a distinctive job of selling masonry, with the brick serving as a reminder throughout the year of the beauty, texture, versatility and durability of masonry. John J. Benson, executive v.p. of the Construction Industry Manufacturers Association, has retired from his position as full-time head of the association.

The logo reproduced here is the new corporate symbol of Acme Masonry Ltd., Burnaby, B.C., Canada, headed by MCAA regional vice president Dino Maniago. Brinton has joined United States Testing Co., Hoboken, N.J., as branch manager of its Modesto (Calif.) division. W. R. Bonsal Co., Charlotte, N.C., has named Robert K. Biggerstaff sales manager.

MCAA Builds Reference File on Masonry Panels

Through its Masonry Panel Committee, Fred Daues, St. Louis, Mo., chairman, MCAA has launched a major project to establish a clearinghouse and data source on masonry panel projects.

The first step to be undertaken is identifying masonry panel projects in the U.S. and Canada that have been completed or are under construction. All MCAA members who have been engaged in either the manufacture or installation of any of the many types of panels (brick, block, stone, composite, etc.) have been surveyed.

Any firms wishing to participate in this survey may contact the MCAA Executive Office to secure the proper forms. The information will be used strictly as a reference for architects/engineers and developers as well as MCAA members.
