MASONRY AWARDS

Masses were used to reduce heat gain during daytime hours. The masses of masonry and the huge overhangs create the environment which varies and visually creates an inviting relief to the community. Hansen Masonry was the mason contractor on the project.
About the Duncan Savings & Loan building. Randy Elliott of Elliott & Associates commented: "The use of masonry was intended to exemplify strength and solidity with the unusual use of brick coursing meant to be the building's real personality. Stack bond soldier coursing, a dark modular brick with a light joint, gives a powerful yet graceful appearance and allows attention to detail." The mason contractor on the building was Phillips Masonry Products.
