# Lenchuk Plans Retirement
Paul Lenchuk, executive director of the National Concrete Masonry Association for the past 15 years and a 30-year veteran of the concrete products industry, has announced his plans to retire effective February 1, 1985.

Louisville Cement Co., Louisville, Ky., has promoted William Darrell Ayers to assistant general sales manager and Carl H. Thomas Jr. to succeed Ayers as Southeast sales manager. Hugh Stubbins & Associates, Inc., Cambridge, Mass., has changed its corporate name to The Stubbins Associates, Inc. and announced five executive appointments: Hugh Stubbins, FAIA, board chairman and CEO; Richard Green, AIA, president; W. Easley Hammer, AIA, executive v.p.; Merle T. Westlake, AIA, senior v.p., and Edwin F. Jones, AIA, senior v.p.
Peer Pedersen, a principal of the Chicago law firm Pederson & Houpt, MCAA's legal counsel, is among five investors in a TV communications venture to be known as the Burnham Broadcasting Co. The Construction Industry Manufacturers Association has selected Fensholt Inc. of Chicago and Milwaukee as the promotion/p.r. agency for CONEXPO *87 to be held in Las Vegas. National Gypsum Co.'s Cement Division, Southfield, Mich., has promoted M. Mike McCormick to v.p./marketing services.
# Frahm Leads CMCA
Rudi Frahm (right), newly elected president of the Canadian Masonry Contractors Association, presents outgoing president Ernesto Tobia with a commemorative plaque at the recent Winnipeg Canadian Masonry Conference. Frahm is from Edmonton, Alberta, and operates Bond Masonry Ltd. Tobia is president of Key Masonry Ltd., Toronto, Ontario.
# Wisconsin Exhibit Winner
The Masonry Institute of Wisconsin was honored with the second place Exhibitor Award by the Wisconsin Society of Architects. Ninety-eight exhibitors took part in the 52nd annual Wisconsin Architects Convention held recently in Lake Geneva.
# Construction Forecast Encouraging for '83
Construction contracting for this year is expected to total $185.6 billion, a 19% gain over 1982, reports McGraw-Hill Information Systems Co.
According to its 1983 Dodge/Sweet's Construction Outlook, the construction industry's turnaround, led by the surge in housing, appears to be stabilizing. There is, however, a lingering weakness in nonresidential construction, the report said.
# IMI TV Feature Reaches 25 Million Homes
A color TV feature on passive solar with masonry, distributed by IMI's Market Development Program, has reached 25 million homes throughout the U.S. and Canada.
The editorial feature briefly describes the basic principles of passive solar energy and explains why masonry is the ideal material for a passive solar system. The TV spot was aired last winter by 65 stations as well as affiliates of NBC, ABC, CBS and PBS.
# New Institute Director
The Fox Valley Contractors Association has appointed Greg Kippenhan of P. G. Miron Construction Co., Menasha, Wis., to serve as a director of the Masonry Institute of Wisconsin.
# AED HONORS KOEHRING
AED HONORS KOEHRING-The Associated Equipment Distributors, Oak Brook, I., recently honored Koehring, a unit of AMCA International Corp., Milwaukee, Wis, in recognition of the firm's 50 years as a manufacturer member of AED. To commemorate the golden anniversary, AED president Dennis G. Doolen (2nd from right) presented the company with a plaque. Representing Koehring were (from left) Thomas M. Dooley, director of product support, and C. R. (Clancy) Thompson, president, Cranes & Excavators Division. Also present at the ceremony was William B. Phillips, AED director of industry relations and programs.
