Federal-Mogul Purchases Felker Operations
Federal-Mogul Corp., Southfield, Mich., has officially purchased Felker Operations, a unit of Dresser Industries' Bay State Abrasive Division. While Federal-Mogul had announced its intention to acquire Felker early in July, the purchase agreement was finally signed on August 30, 1985. Federal-Mogul said it has viewed Felker as an addition to its Target Products Division, which is a leading producer of power saw and core drill machines, diamond saw blades and drill bits, abrasive saw blades and grinding wheels, as well as pavement continued on page 26

Joseph A. Barilotti, a former bricklayer and masonry material sales rep, has been named executive director of the Delaware Valley Masonry Institute and the Employing Bricklayers Association of Delaware Valley, Narberth, Pa. The Building Products Division of W. R. Bonsal Co., Charlotte, N.C., has appointed Bernie D. Edwards as director of operations and named Ron Hodges manager of marketing & sales, architectural products. Edwin G. Hedstrom, formerly technical services administrator, cement division, Ideal Basic Industries of Denver, has been named director of research for the National Concrete Masonry Association. Jerry L. Morgensen has been elevated to president of Hensel Phelps.
Fire Safety Is Aim of NCMA Public Service Ads
A new series of public service announcements created to educate the public on how to protect themselves from the potentiality of fire have been made available to some 700 TV stations and 1,400 radio stations by the National Concrete Masonry Association. The 10- and 30-second spots feature an animated character called "Tom E., the Talking Townhouse." NCMA president John Heslip introduced the fire safety campaign with a demonstration and press conference held on the grounds of the U.S. Capitol during National Fire Prevention Week in October.
Jotul of Norway Opens U.S. Headquarters
The Jotul Corp. of Norway, manufacturer of cast iron fireplace systems for masonry construction, recently opened its new U.S. headquarters at 400 Riverside St., Portland, Maine. The Jotul Fireplace System 18, designed for a masonry enclosure, combines the best features of a conventional fireplace with the efficiency of a cast iron woodstove.
Refractories Institute Elects Officers
Richard C. South, executive vice president and treasurer of Lava Crucible-Refractories Co., Zelienople, Pa., was elected chairman of the Refractories Institute at the group's 35th annual Membership Meeting in Williamsburg, Va. Elected vice chairman was Richard B. McNamara, vice president and general manager, Industrial Ceramics Division, Norton Co., Worcester, Mass. Edmund S. Wright, president, North American Refractories, Cleveland, Ohio, was elected treasurer.
Authors Needed for Symposium on Masonry
A Call for Papers has been issued for the Symposium on Masonry: Materials, Design, Construction, and Maintenance, sponsored by ASTM Committees C-7 on Lime, C-12 on Mortars for Unit Masonry, and C-15 on Manufactured Masonry Units. The symposium, fifth in a series, will precede the December, 1986 meetings of ASTM Committees C-12 and C-15 in New Orleans, La. continued on page 26
St. Louis MCA Hosts Engineering Students
