Meet MCAA's Officers...
C. DeWITT BROWN, JR.
President
Dee Brown is president and board chairman of Dee Brown Masonry, Inc. and Shiloh Investment Co., Inc., based in Dallas, Texas. His masonry operation is among the foremost in that area and was responsible for the masonry work on many architecturally acclaimed buildings.
Before being elected president of MCAA, Dee served the Association as treasurer, secretary, vice president. regional vice president, Texas state chairman, and president of the MCAA Dallas Chapter.
He also is a past president or past chairman of the North Texas Contractors Association (NTCA), the Dallas County Construction Employers Association, the Construction Employers Council of Texas, and the Associated Masonry Contractors of Texas. He presently serves the NTCA as a director and member of that group's Multi-Craft Regional Collective Bargaining Co Committee as well as being its past president.
Dee currently is a trustee and co-chairman of the International Masonry Institute, chairman of the Texas State Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for Bricklayers, chairman of the Bricklayers Health and Welfare Plan of Texas, and director of the Dallas Building Trades Joint Promotion and Apprenticeship Training Program for Equal Opportunity.
In local civic affairs, Dee is a director of the First Citizens Bank in Dallas; past director of Goodwill Industries; past president of the Dallas Executive Association; past co-chairman of the Construction Division of Dallas County United Fund, and past chairman of the Dallas Commission on Children and Youth, the Dallas County Campaign of the March of Dimes, and the Executive League of the East Dallas Chamber of Commerce.
A native Dallasite, Dee was educated at Sunset High School and Southern Methodist University. He and his wife, Jody, have four children and four grandchildren.
ROBERT H. HATCH
Vice President
Bob Hatch is president and sole owner of Hatch Masonry, Inc., headquartered in South El Monte, California. In operation under Bob's guidance for the past 19 years, the company performs the bulk of its work in the industrial, commercial and governmental sector in the greater Los Angeles area.
Prior to starting his own firm, Bob worked in a management capacity with another mason contractor for 13 years, doing a similar scope of work. A registered civil engineer in the state of California. Bob is a graduate of lowa State University with a degree in architectural engineering.
Prior to his election as treasurer of MCAA, Bob was a regional vice president and chairman of the Contract Research Committee. He additionally spent several years as a management trustee of the Health & Welfare and Pension Funds for the brickmasons of Los Angeles and Orange Counties in California. He also is a member of the International Masonry Institute's Market Development Program Board and the Advisory Council of the Masonry Research Foundation.
A Navy veteran of World War II, Bob is an instrument-rated airplane pilot and flies a Cessna P210, which he uses in his business operations. He also is an avid photographer and golfer, and enjoys fishing in Mexico.
Bob and his wife, Mim, have three children. "They now all live on the West Coast and are pursuing their own careers," says Bob. "Steve is in San Francisco, Scott is in Seattle, and Susan is in Los Angeles. All are married and doing well."
