G. R. "Bob" Batcheller, President of Concrete Products Co., Sioux City, lowa will serve as chairman of the Siouxland United Way for 1988. Batcheller, a 25-year veteran of United Way Campaigns, was vice-chairman of the 1987 effort. American Col- loid Co. has appointed Richard Roe- ser as the new Technical Sales Rep- resentative for its Building Materials Division.

The Minnesota Concrete & Masonry Contractors Association has moved to new quarters. They are 405 Sibley St., Suite #120, St. Paul, MN 55101.... Charles Scholer, associate professor of civil engineering at Pur- due University has been named a re- cipient of the ASTM Award of Merit.

Hertz Equipment Rental Corp. (HERC) has promoted Curtis Gober to Branch Manager, Jackson, Miss.

Mid-South Equipment Co. has been named Pettibone distributor for the State of Mississippi and Tri-State Equipment Co. has been named for six Texas counties.

Patrick Campbell, president of the Carpenters International Union since 1982, will retire on Feb. 1. Succeeding Campbell is first vice president Sig- urd Lucassen, a 35-year member of Carpenters Local 2250 in Red Bank, NJ.... Akron Brick & Block Co., Ltd. has announced the promotion of Mi- chael G. Wojno to the post of execu- tive Vice president. Wojno has been active in the industry for 12 years. Others named in the restructuring of operations are: Ms. J. Carol Ed- wards-Assistant Secretary: Jerry May-General Sales Manager: Richard Knapper-Regional Sales Man- ager; Jim Bale-Production Manager; Randy Neff-Shift Superintendent; Joe Schutt-Traffic Manager and David Calcei-Quality Control.

Stuart R. Wetterschneider has been elected vice president for design and engineering of the Austin Company. Kathleen Dugal has been pro- moted to sales manager of the Trans Ceramics Ltd's new tile division.

Meyers, vice president and general manager of Minneapolis Operations for Sund- strand-Sauer has been elected 1988 Chairman of Construction Industry Manufacturers Association.... Fred- erick Port has been named president of the Owl Companies.

The Delaware Valley Masonry In- stitute has elected new officers. They are: president, Kelley Markegene; vice president, Don Grimme'; treasurer, Ted Stopkoski; secretary, Eugene Lapore and trustee, John J. Sabia.

The DVMI will again sponsor the Anthony Nolfi Scholarship to senior engineering students, for their engi neering masonry designing competi- tion.
