Dayton Awards
Three Architectural Excellence Awards were presented to Dayton, Ohio, firms at the 16th Annual Awards Banquet sponsored by the Masonry Institute of Dayton, held at the Presidential Center on December 2, 1988.
The architectural firms and the projects honored are: Mark Beachler and Associates for their design of Holy Angels Church; Dale D. Smith and Associates for the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine-Grandview addition; and Edge & Tinney for University of Dayton's Virginia W. Kettering Food & Residence Hall.
The Excellence in Engineering was awarded to the firm of Shell & Meyer, Associates, who did the engineering on the above winning projects.
Two Awards of Merit were presented. One to the firm of Brightman & Mitchell for the Church of the Ascension and the other award to John Ruetschle Associates for their Northmont Community Auditorium project.
A Masonry Systems Award went to the firm of Hixon Architects for the Mad River Station Shopping Center with a Special Award for Block going to Michael Schuster Associates for Frisch's Restaurant.
The Masonry Institute of Dayton is a non-profit service organization covering the eleven counties in Southwest Ohio.
Architectural Excellence Award-The Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine designed by Dale G. Smith Associates with masonry by Harris Masonry.
Architectural Excellence Award-University of Dayton, Virginia W. Kettering Food & Residence Complex designed by Edge & Tinney with masonry by KMCO.
Award of Merit-Northmont Community Auditorium designed by John Ruetschle and Associates with masonry by F. E. Longstreth, Inc.
Architectural Excellence Award-Holy Angels addition was designed by Mark Beachler and Associates with masonry by Miami Valley Masonry.
