Metropolitan Toronto Police Headquarters building winner of the 3rd Annual Masonry Project Design Award Competition sponsored by the Toronto Society of Architects and the Toronto Masonry Industry Promotion Fund.

3rd Annual Awards Competition

The Toronto Society of Architects and the Toronto Masonry Industry Promotion Fund organized and co-sponsored the 3rd Annual Masonry Project Design Award Competition for the society firms. Thirty seven entries were received for the first stage of the competition from a total of 26 firms with 16 projects being selected to advance to the second stage of the competition. Fourteen firms were involved in submitting presentation boards for the final judging where one project that best fulfilled the requirements of aesthetic interest, tasteful detailing and quality workmanship was selected.

The jury consisted of 2 Architects, Phillip H. Carter and Michael Spaziani, 2 Masonry Contractors, Jim Riach of Clifford Masonry and Odino Soligo of D.M.S. Masonry and 2 Local 2 Ontario Provincial Conference representatives John Robbins and John Elliott.

Two hundred and twenty seven Architects, Masonry Contractors, Union representatives and their spouses and guests filled Stop 33 at the Sutton Place Hotel Toronto on February 9, 1989 for a gala award presentation dinner.
