CHANGES & GROWTH

Michael Gee has been appointed senior product manager and Brian C. Rugg has been appointed national salesmanager for Grace Masonry Products. Gee was previously branch manager for Grace, and Rugg was previously located in Atlanta as national salesmanager for the company's roof deck systems and as southern regional manager for the building products division.

The National Association of Brick Distributors and the Masonry Fireplace and Chimney Association have moved their offices to 1600 Spring Hill Road, Suite 305, Vienna, Virginia 22182. New phone number is 703/749-6229, and new fax number is 703/749-6227.

Connie Focht, a customer service representative since 1989, has been appointed customer service supervisor by PermaGrain Products. Sarah Wandtke has joined the company as a customer service representative, and Terry Gaffney has joined the company to handle all functions related to accounts receivable, as well as providing additional customer support.

Donald J. Sladek has joined the Portland Cement Association as director of education and training, a post that includes responsibility for PCA's courses, seminars and training videos covering concrete and masonry construction, precast concrete, cement manufacturing, ready-mix concrete and related engineering topics.

Acme Brick Company, Fort Worth. Texas, a major manufacturer of brick and a distributor of tile and glass block, has expanded its operations to serve as a sales representative for Ludowici-Celadon, a leading manufacturer of premium clay roof tiles.

Chicago architect Walker C. Johnson, in association with Larry M. Lasky, has opened a firm for the practice of architecture Walker C. Johnson Architects. Johnson, formerly director of restoration and rehabilitation for the firm of Holabird and Root, received his training from the University of Illinois. Lasky, also formerly with Holabird and Root, is a graduate of the Illinois Institute of Technology. Offices of the firm are at 22 West Monroe. Chicago, Illinois 60603.

PermaGrain Products has appointed four new distributors for its marble and granite tile lines. They are: Virginia Tile, covering lower Michigan; Childcrest Distributors, covering Wisconsin and Michigan's Upper Peninsula; Rollin B. Child, covering Minnesota and North and South Dakota; and Sunderland Brothers, covering lowa and Nebraska.

George Miller, former Executive President of the Mason Contractors Association of America, has been nominated for inclusion in the "Who's Who Registry of Global Business Leaders." The Registry is a prominent and authoritative reference source of accomplished individuals and their career positions.

M. Arganbright and Sons, Santa Ana, California masonry contractor established in 1922 in southern California by Minor Arganbright, is closing its doors. Bud Arganbright and his son Steve are the present owners of the company, which has been in business continuously since its founding seventy years ago.

Resource Connection, North Vancouver, British Columbia, has been appointed representative in western Canada for PermaGrain Products.

Robert J. Ferkovich has been appointed Chicago territory manager by PermaGrain Products. Ferkovich will represent the company's full line of products to architects and designers throughout northern Illinois.

Val Dubovoy has been named principal engineer in the materials research and consulting group of Construction Technology Laboratories, Skokie, Illinois. His responsibilities include overseeing the evaluation and development of masonry and concrete materials. He holds BS and MS degrees in civil engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of Riga, Latvia.

THE SMALL LINE DIVISION OF SCHWING AMERICA opened a new plant in Rush City, Minnesota. The plant occupies 27,000 square feet for the manufacture of the division's grout/concrete pumps. The company also makes a full line of pump parts at the new plant, located approximately 40 miles north of Minneapolis. Sales, engineering and administration is now handled from the location.
