McKellar & Associates was chosen as the Design With Brick award recipient for their innovative use of brick in conjunction with other materials at the Automated Trading Desk Technology Campus in Mount Pleasant. The varied color and hand made appearance of the brick used in the structure is characteristic of many plantation buildings in the area and keeps with the natural beauty of the campus setting. The firm chose to contribute the scholarship donation to a school that shares their passion for building preservation. The American College of Building Arts' mission includes the importance of preserving "the rich heritage and diverse cultures found in historic structures."
"We are proud to promote excellence in design with masonry through our Design with Brick competition," said Jewel Warlick, Marketing Director of Brick Association of the Carolinas. "Shaping young minds by providing proper education and training in the traditional building arts is an integral part of the future of our industry.
