Mass Media & Technology Building, Western Kentucky University, Bowling Green, Ky.
Architect: Arrasmith, Judd, Rapp, Chovan inc, Louisville, Ky
Mason Contractor: Benchmark Masonry
Structural Engineer: Skyhook Engineering
Jury Comments: This project demonstrates exceptional skill on a number of levels. The banding is very effective in creating a visual presence. The entrance arcade is elegantly proportioned and is a restrained, yet monumental, element. The building uses masonry to create architecture.
Brick Award of Honor
Parker-Bennett-Curry Elementary School, Bowling Green, Kу.
Architect: Ross-Tamant Architects, Lexington, Ky.
Mason Contractor: Shaw & Jones Masonry
Structural Engineer: Structural Design Group
Jury Comments: This is a creative and unique use of brick detailing, utilizing masonry in a subtle yet powerful way. The massing and composition of forms are creative and not typical of most of our built environment. The jury thought this was a gutsy use of details for this type of project
