LoJac Materials Inc. and Alley-Cassetty Companies Inc. announced a joint venture agreement to combine manufacturing of masonry block and specialty block, effective Jan. 1, 2015. While retail entities for both companies will remain separate, the venture, BlockWorks LLC, will increase manufacturing efficiency and capacity to meet demand in Middle Tennessee, which is becoming increasingly important as the marketplace continues to grow.

“Both of our companies have a rich history providing the Middle Tennessee market with high quality masonry block,” said Jack Lowery, chief executive officer and chairman of the board for LoJac Holdings Company. “Not only do we have similar manufacturing processes and products, the venture is a perfect cultural fit for all parties.”

The joint venture will enable LoJac and Alley-Cassetty to combine manufacturing expertise, cost of operations and facilities.  Both companies will continue to offer full product lines and will maintain existing customer relationships.

“BlockWorks will provide our retail divisions with greater volume, improved quality and enhanced geographic convenience,” said Sam Strang, CEO for Alley-Cassetty. “This venture will allow both LoJac and Alley-Cassetty to expand to meet the increased demand in the marketplace, ensuring customers have product when they need it to prevent delays on the job site.”

LoJac will contribute manufacturing facilities in Lebanon and Dickson, Tenn., as well as a drop yard in Cookeville, Tenn. Alley-Cassetty will bring manufacturing facilities in Gallatin and Murfreesboro, Tenn. With a geographic footprint encompassing Middle Tennessee, BlockWorks will allow dealers to distribute product locally, resulting in quicker distribution and ultimately cutting down on the cost of freight.
