Alabama Holcim Plant Awarded Highest Commendation by State Senate

Ben Brooks of Mobile presented the Holcim (U.S.) Theodore Plant with a Senate Joint Resolution commending its outstanding achievements. The resolution recognizes the Theodore Plant for the positive impact it has made on the citizens of the state of Alabama.

"The recent efforts of the Holcim Plant have shown the business to be an asset to the corporate community in south Mobile County," Brooks said. "On behalf of South Mobile County, I thank the company for its support of our community."

The resolution — signed by Charles McDowell Lee, secretary of the Alabama Senate — commended the Holcim (U.S.) Theodore Plant for several awards and honors it has received in the past year, including:
  • Winner of the 2006 Outreach Award, as part of the 2006 Cement Industry Energy and Environment Awards by the Portland Cement Association and Cement Americas

  • Winner of the 2006 Council of State Governments Associates Award for Corporate Citizenship

  • Honoree at a dedication ceremony — attended by Alabama First Lady Patsy Riley — as part of Habitat for Humanity's "First Families Building Homes Across America" Women Build initiative
In addition to the accolades received from the Alabama State Senate, U.S. Congressman Jo Bonner (R-AL) entered a statement into the Congressional Record on April 19, 2007, commending the Holcim (U.S.) Theodore Plant for its outstanding accomplishments.
