LATICRETE donated products for a new pavilion at the Disabled Veterans Camp.
LATICRETE, a global leader in the manufacturing of innovative systems for the installation of tile and stone, generously donated LATAPOXY® 310 Rapid Stone Adhesive and the LATAPOXY 310 Cordless Mixer for a new open air stone pavilion at the Disabled Veterans Camp on Big Marine Lake in Marine on St. Croix, Minnesota. The Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers LoUnion 1 of Minnesota/North Dakota volunteered their services and installed 18 columns with stone veneers and caps utilizing LATAPOXY 310 Stone Adhesive in a rapid setting format. The new 2,400 square foot stone pavilion sits on the 75-acre Disabled Veterans Camp designed to provide facilities and opportunities for recreation, rest and well-being for all woman and men who have served or are serving in the Armed Forces of the United States of America.

The project was spearheaded by Thomas Reger from the Cement Masons Local 633 in Minnesota. The Bricklayers Local Union 1 installation team was led by apprenticeship coordinators Rick Martagon (Navy Veteran) and Mark Wickstrom, Master Stone Carver and Stone Technician, and several other trade unions and suppliers rose to the challenge and joined LATICRETE to realize this important project. LATAPOXY 310 Rapid Stone Adhesive and the LATAPOXY 310 Cordless Mixer sped up the job for the stone installation team by allowing the stone veneers and caps to be spot bonded quickly and easily, a major advantage in terms of speed and productivity over mechanical anchoring, plaster and wire, and the thin-set method of veneer installation.

“We have used LATAPOXY 310 Stone Adhesive in the past doing large-scale marble fireplaces,” said Martagon. “Tom Broderson (LATICRETE Sales Representative) brought the product over to our training center and the brick and stone guys loved it. Traditionally, we would have had to pin the caps to the substrate, but with LATAPOXY 310 Stone Adhesive we didn’t have to do that. It saved us a lot of time.”
